The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has clarified that a widely circulating video of President Tinubu is not new, but rather a clip from a previous broadcast.
According to Onanuga, the video, which surfaced on Wednesday, is actually from a broadcast made by President Tinubu last year. He said since his last broadcast on Sunday, President Tinubu has not made any further public statements.

The video, initially posted on the president’s personal Xplatform(formerly Twitter), has sparked widespread discussion as it depicts President Tinubu addressing Nigerians about the country’s current economic situation. In the video President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that the prevailing economic challenges are temporary.
However, the release of the old video has raised questions about whether President Tinubu had foreseen the ongoing economic predicament.
It has also brought attention to apparent discord and lack of coordination among the president’s aides, leading to a political party questioning the validity of the president’s address.
This revelation by the Special Adviser has fueled speculation and debate among Nigerians, drawing attention to the need for greater transparency in the dissemination of information from the presidency.

Debunking the video
As the country grapples with economic uncertainties, the authenticity and timing of official statements are paramount to maintaining public trust. The latest incident has underscored the importance of clarity and accuracy in communication from the highest office in the land.
