LAGOS – Reverend Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi, founder of the Love of Christ Generation Church in Victoria Island, Lagos, has extolled Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as a spiritual father who prioritizes the growth of all Christians, irrespective of denominational boundaries.
She made this declaration on Sunday during a heartfelt sermon, which coincided with the Conferment of Excellence Award as Philanthropist of the Year on her by the management and staff of Lens AfricaTV, led by its CEO, Mr. Remilekun Enitan Oyelowo.
Recounting a memorable event that underscored Pastor Adeboye’s unwavering dedication to unity within the body of Christ, Reverend Mother Ajayi shared how the RCCG leader surprised many when he attended the official opening and commissioning of her church’s cathedral in Lagos. According to her, Pastor Adeboye overcame pressure to skip the occasion, citing conflicting commitments, yet chose to honor the event.
“What I heard from Baba Adeboye was remarkable,” Reverend Mother Ajayi said. “He was advised not to attend, but he said the Lord had directed him to be at the cathedral’s commissioning. Regardless of what anyone said, he obeyed the voice of God and graced us with his presence. That is the hallmark of a father who desires the growth of his children, irrespective of denomination.”
Reverend Mother Ajayi used this moment to emphasize the importance of gratitude, a virtue she described as essential for both spiritual and personal development. Citing a Yoruba proverb, “Ore pe asiwere gbagbe”—translated as “When a lunatic forgets a long-received favor, it reveals ingratitude”—she urged her congregation and Nigerians at large to always appreciate acts of kindness and divine blessings.
Her message of appreciation was further reflected as she graciously accepted the Philanthropist of the Year Award from Lens AfricaTV. Reverend Mother Ajayi expressed deep gratitude to the organization for recognizing her contributions to society, particularly through her philanthropic and spiritual work.
“I sincerely appreciate Lens AfricaTV, led by Mr. Remilekun Enitan Oyelowo, for this great honor,” she said. “Everything I have done, and all that I continue to do, is through the grace and strength of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without Him, none of these would be possible.”
She further commended the media organization for its commitment to impactful reportage, encouraging the team to remain ambassadors of truth and professionalism in journalism.
“It is important to maintain integrity in all your endeavors,” Reverend Mother Ajayi charged. “As journalists, your work influences the nation. Continue to be a voice of hope, positivity, and truth.”
The event marked another chapter in Reverend Mother Ajayi’s legacy as a revered religious leader and philanthropist.
Known for her unwavering commitment to uplifting the less privileged, her church, the Love of Christ Generation Church, has consistently championed initiatives that address the needs of vulnerable communities, including healthcare, education, and welfare programs.
For attendees, her sermon and testimony about Pastor Adeboye’s leadership were a timely reminder of the importance of unity and humility among Christians.
“Her story about Pastor Adeboye teaches us that true leadership transcends denominational divides,” said David Oluwaseun, a church member present at the service. “It’s about obedience to God and supporting one another in faith.”
Lens AfricaTV CEO, Mr. Remilekun Enitan Oyelowo, praised Reverend Mother Ajayi’s contributions to humanity, describing her as a beacon of hope and an example for leaders across various sectors. “Reverend Mother Ajayi’s works speak volumes,” he said. “She has touched countless lives, and it is only fitting to honor her with this award.”
As the service concluded, the congregation erupted in joyous applause, celebrating both Reverend Mother Ajayi’s recognition and her message of unity, gratitude, and service to God and humanity.
Her words, filled with humility and purpose, continue to resonate beyond the walls of the church, offering inspiration to millions striving for a life anchored in faith, kindness, and gratitude.
