
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s 2025 annual inter-religious prayer session turned into a vibrant celebration of his achievements and a collective endorsement for a second term. Held at the Government Secretariat, Abere, Oshogbo the event brought together top religious leaders, traditional rulers, government workers, and citizens, all united in prayers and support for the governor’s continued leadership.
Prominent clerics led the charge, with Sheikh Musa Animasahun, President of the League of Imams and Alfas, declaring Adeleke’s tenure divinely ordained. He praised the governor’s exceptional delivery of services, urging citizens to support his administration for continuity and progress beyond 2026. Prayers echoed through the gathering as participants sought divine blessings for Adeleke’s leadership.
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) state chairman, Comrade Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo, also threw his weight behind Adeleke, citing his attention to workers’ welfare and pensioners’ needs. Workers danced and sang in celebration, underscoring their enthusiasm for the governor’s governance style.
Market traders, represented by the Iyaloja General, Chief Oyebode Mary, added their voices to the endorsements, highlighting Adeleke’s contributions to ease of business and economic growth. Former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola echoed similar sentiments, calling Adeleke’s leadership “a medicine that works,” during a heartfelt endorsement at the session.
Traditional leaders, including the revered Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, offered prayers of empowerment and gratitude. The Ooni praised the governor’s consultative governance approach, likening the state’s progress to a joyous dance led by a clean-hearted leader. “Great things are happening to Osun, and we are all rejoicing,” he declared.
In his address, Governor Adeleke expressed profound gratitude to God and the people of Osun. He credited divine guidance for the administration’s successes, emphasizing a commitment to serve faithfully. “At the center of state power is God and His divine will,” he said. “We will not abandon the path of God or the interests of the people.”
Adeleke pledged continued dedication to pro-people policies, infrastructural development, and grassroots engagement. He called on religious and traditional leaders to act as agents of unity and progress, spreading the message of good governance.
