Osun Amotekun Issues Stern Warning Against Cult Activities, Pledges Firm Enforcement to Safeguard Public Peace
The Osun State Amotekun Corps has issued a strong warning against any planned activities by cult groups or secret societies, especially those targeting Monday, July 7, 2025, for clandestine gatherings. The Corps has vowed to enforce the law decisively against any threats to public peace.
In an official statement released in Osogbo, the Corps Commander, Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, emphasized the agency’s readiness to respond swiftly to any security breach. He disclosed that intelligence reports have alerted the Corps to potential attempts by certain groups to organize unlawful meetings under the guise of cultural or secretive celebrations.
“Osun State is a land of peace, and we will not allow any group or individual to undermine the harmony we have diligently built,” Commander Omoyele stated. “Anyone involved in cult-related meetings or activities will face the full weight of the law.”
He reaffirmed the state government’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism, assuring that Amotekun operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, are fully deployed across the state to monitor, prevent, and respond to any threat.
Commander Omoyele urged law-abiding residents to carry on with their normal routines without fear, while also encouraging them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security post.
“There will be no leniency for anyone caught disturbing the peace. Arrests will be immediate, and prosecutions will follow,” he warned.
The Amotekun Corps reiterated its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, stressing that security is a collective responsibility between government authorities and the citizenry.
