Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved the dissolution of the board and management of the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC), marking a major shakeup in the state-owned media organization.
The board, previously led by Director General and Chief Executive Officer Kunle Adebayo, was officially disbanded on Wednesday.
In a statement issued in Akure by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the decision was announced alongside the immediate appointment of Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson as the new Director General and CEO of the corporation.
According to the statement, the governor directed the outgoing management and board to hand over all government properties and responsibilities in their possession to Odusola-Stevenson without delay.
“The dissolved management and board are to hand over all government properties in their possession to the new director general with immediate effect,” the statement read.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to Kunle Adebayo and the entire dissolved board for their services, acknowledging their contributions to the corporation.
He wished them success in their future endeavors while emphasizing the need for renewed leadership to steer the media house toward greater efficiency and performance.
This leadership change comes amid growing calls for a revamp of the state’s public communication structures and a need to position the OSRC as a more responsive and modern media platform.
Stakeholders within the state have long urged reforms to strengthen the corporation’s ability to deliver on its mandate of providing quality broadcasting services to the people of Ondo State and beyond.
The appointment of Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson signals a new direction for the OSRC. A seasoned media professional with extensive experience in the broadcasting industry, Odusola-Stevenson is expected to bring innovative strategies to reposition the corporation and improve its operational standards.
Analysts have described Aiyedatiwa’s decision as timely, especially as the state prepares for increased media engagement ahead of the upcoming 2024 gubernatorial election.
The OSRC plays a pivotal role in public information dissemination, and expectations are high for the new leadership to leverage technology and modern broadcasting techniques to enhance content delivery.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s move pinpoints his administration’s broader agenda of reforming state-owned institutions to ensure accountability, efficiency, and relevance in service delivery.
