Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized his commitment to prompt governance, stating that he would proceed directly to his office post-inauguration to initiate key actions and announce significant appointments. “After my inauguration, I’ll move straight to my office and start work because the day is Monday. Some appointments are going to be declared on that day,” he noted.
Transitioning from the previous ‘Redeemed’ agenda, the ‘Our Ease’ agenda outlines a seven-point roadmap designed to foster holistic development across all sectors.
The agenda includes security and rule of law, urban and rural development, agriculture, industrialization, efficient healthcare, social welfare, adequate power and affordable energy, sustainable infrastructure, tourism, education, and entrepreneurship. This strategic plan aims to address the diverse needs of Ondo State’s populace, ensuring inclusive growth and development.
Aiyedatiwa highlighted the state’s potential to increase its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from the current N1.7 billion to N2 billion monthly, aiming for up to N6 billion.
He attributed the revenue shortfall to existing leakages and announced plans to collaborate with consultants to implement technology-driven solutions for efficient revenue management. “We have a consultant that we have been talking to.
The potential for revenue generation a month in Ondo State really can be N4 billion to N5 billion or N6 billion in a month,” he stated.
Recognizing tourism as a vital economic driver, Governor Aiyedatiwa showcased the Araromi Seaside’s potential, noting its strategic location just 45 minutes from Lagos.
He revealed ongoing discussions with investors, including La Campagne Tropicana, to develop the area, which is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth. “This visit is all about showcasing what Ondo State has to offer. We want investors, both local and international, to see the untapped opportunities that exist in Araromi and other parts of the state,” he declared.
The governor addressed the importance of quality education and healthcare, announcing that employment letters for newly recruited teachers would be issued promptly.
He also outlined plans to construct and rehabilitate primary healthcare facilities across the state’s 203 wards, aiming to enhance service delivery and make rural postings more attractive to professionals. “We are trying to expand our sources of income through tourism, and we have it here in Araromi Seaside,” Aiyedatiwa added.
In a gesture of compassion, Governor Aiyedatiwa marked his inauguration by pardoning 43 inmates, including the release of eight individuals and the commutation of sentences for others. This act reflects his commitment to reformative justice and humane governance.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s immediate and comprehensive approach underscores his dedication to the progress and prosperity of Ondo State, setting a proactive tone for his administration.
