The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported a partial disturbance of the national grid on Tuesday afternoon at 1:52 p.m, attributed to a series of tripping lines and generators. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, addressed the situation in a statement issued in Abuja, highlighting the subsequent instability that led to the power disruption.
According to data from the National Control Centre (NCC), not all regions of the grid were affected by the outage. Mbah reassured the public that TCN engineers were swiftly working to restore bulk power supply to the impacted states.
By 2:49 p.m., they successfully restored power to Abuja, signaling progress in the recovery efforts.
This is not the first such occurrence will be recorded this year, Nigerians had in October 14,2024 experienced a nationwide blackout making it eight national grid collapse of the year.
“We sincerely apologize for every inconvenience this may cause our electricity customers,” Mbah stated, emphasizing the company’s commitment to resolving the issues as efficiently as possible.
In light of the disruption, TCN’s proactive response aims to minimize further inconvenience while ensuring reliable electricity supply across the nation.
As the company continues to address the remaining challenges, consumers are hopeful for a swift return to normalcy.
