The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) orchestrated airstrikes on November 25, 2024, near Kukawa in Borno State, as part of Operation HADIN KAI has delt a huge blow on the operations of terrorists at the Lake Chad region.
The well-coordinated missions not only showcased the NAF’s operational prowess but also significantly disrupted the activities of terror groups in the region.
Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, the NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, confirmed that the first airstrike targeted a terrorist guntruck, which was neutralized based on credible intelligence that indicated its whereabouts approximately 5 kilometers west of Kukawa.
This successful mission was pivotal, as it eliminated several militants who were using the guntruck to intensify their operations against security forces and local communities.
The second phase of the operation saw NAF aircraft providing critical close air support to ground troops who were engaged in a fierce battle with militants on motorcycles.
This strategic intervention proved vital, as airstrikes were executed with precision at different intervals, effectively neutralizing numerous terrorists and preserving the integrity of the ground forces.
Adding to the success of the operation, over 20 abandoned motorcycles were recovered by troops following the airstrikes. These motorcycles were likely used by the militants, highlighting the effectiveness of the NAF’s efforts in dismantling the logistical capabilities of the insurgent group.
In the aftermath, ground troops continued the pursuit of the wounded and fleeing terrorists, further disrupting the enemy’s operations. The NAF reiterated its unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security across Nigeria, emphasizing its role in bolstering the capabilities of ground troops and collaborating with other security agencies in the fight against terror.
These latest airstrikes pinpoints a significant escalation in the battle against insurgency in northeastern Nigeria, where the NAF is deploying advanced tactics and intelligence to outmaneuver and dismantle criminal networks.
With the ongoing commitment to vigilance and operational readiness, the Nigerian military is relentless to continue its efforts in securing the region and safeguarding the lives of its citizens.
