The governor made this pledge while attending the 6th convocation ceremony of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, in his statutory capacity as the University’s Visitor.
Governor Aiyedatiwa commended UNIMED’s historic achievements, particularly the successful production of three sets of medical doctors and dentists in under a decade—a remarkable milestone in Nigeria’s academic landscape. “UNIMED has not only produced doctors and dentists but also four sets of nurses, four sets of physiotherapists, two sets of medical laboratory scientists, and six sets of graduates in health sciences. This is no small feat,” he remarked.
The governor congratulated the graduands, their families, and the university community, emphasizing their role in shaping skilled healthcare professionals for Nigeria’s future. He extended special recognition to the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, the former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and Chief Isaac Akintade, all of whom were conferred with honorary degrees during the ceremony.

He described the initiative as a testament to his administration’s dedication to fostering excellence in education and healthcare. “This Senate Building will serve as a symbol of our shared commitment to quality education and infrastructure development,” he stated.
Reaffirming his administration’s resolve to support tertiary education, Aiyedatiwa pledged continued investment in UNIMED and other higher institutions across Ondo State. He stressed that strengthening education and health systems remains vital to achieving sustainable growth.
The ceremony, attended by dignitaries, stakeholders, and graduates, underscored UNIMED’s rising profile as a hub for healthcare excellence. The governor’s announcements were met with applause, reflecting optimism for the future of education and health development in Ondo State.
