A new security assessment has placed Gombe State at the very top of Nigeria’s peace and safety rankings. The Nigeria Watch 2024 Report by data intelligence firm StatiSense identifies Gombe as the country’s least dangerous state, citing its exceptionally low record of conflict-related fatalities.
The report shows that Gombe posted the lowest fatality index nationwide at 0.33, a figure that sets it apart from other states. Cross River followed closely with an index of 0.37, while Akwa Ibom ranked third at 0.89 during the period reviewed.
Observers attribute Gombe’s standout performance to a deliberate and well-coordinated security approach adopted by the state government under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON. His administration has emphasized intelligence-led operations, strong community partnerships and sustained collaboration with security agencies.
Beyond infrastructure and enforcement, the government has focused on early conflict prevention and grassroots involvement, ensuring that local communities play an active role in maintaining peace.
These combined efforts have helped foster stability, social cohesion and a reputation for calm that now positions Gombe as a benchmark for security governance in Nigeria.
