The Department of State Services (DSS) successfully apprehended 10 suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) members in Ilesa. Reacting to the breakthrough, Governor Ademola Adeleke commended the security operatives for their vigilance and intelligence-led operation.
In a statement made available by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke expressed deep appreciation for the DSS’s effort to thwart potential security threats.
He highlighted the dedication and strategic planning involved in neutralizing these risks, assuring Osun residents of their continued safety under his administration.
“This is a welcome development and a relief for us as a government and for all the people of Osun State. The swift action of the DSS and their effective intelligence gathering reaffirm our confidence in the nation’s security forces.
They have once again demonstrated their capacity to protect our state and country,” the statement read.
The Governor pledged his administration’s unyielding support for security agencies, emphasizing that ensuring the safety of lives and property remains a top priority. He further stressed the importance of collaboration between his government and security operatives to prevent any security breaches across the state.
“As the Chief Security Officer of Osun State, I assure my people that this administration will continue to prioritize their safety. We will sustain our collaboration with security agencies to guard against threats and maintain the peace Osun is known for,” Governor Adeleke added.
The Governor also urged residents to remain vigilant and actively contribute to the state’s security by reporting suspicious activities to relevant authorities. He reassured the public that with collective effort, Osun would continue to stand out as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states.
“This is a call for unity. Let us all remain watchful and support the efforts of our security operatives. Together, we will ensure that Osun remains a safe and harmonious place for everyone,” the statement concluded.
Security experts have lauded the DSS operation as a critical step in combating the spread of terrorism into southern Nigeria. The Governor’s proactive stance further emphasizes the importance of governance and public support in achieving sustained peace and security.
