Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has pledged resolute action against any criminal elements attempting to infiltrate the state. This comes amidst growing concerns over the movement of bandits and kidnappers fleeing military crackdowns in the North West and seeking refuge in the South West region.
In a statement made available by the Public Relations Officer of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Yusuf Idowu Abass On sunday, Dr. Omoyele reassured residents of Osun State that the safety and security of their lives and property remain the Corps’ paramount priority. He underscored the Amotekun Corps’ commitment to ensuring that the state remains secure, warning that criminal elements would face uncompromising resistance if they dared to disrupt the peace.
“We are sending a clear and unambiguous message to all criminals: Osun is not a sanctuary for bandits, kidnappers, or any group intending to disrupt the peace and security of our people,” Omoyele stated. “We will not tolerate the presence of these lawless elements in our midst. Our men are fully deployed, vigilant, and ready to combat any threats with the utmost force.”
The Commander emphasized that the Corps has intensified its operations in collaboration with other security agencies to tackle emerging security challenges. The coordinated effort includes tracking and monitoring suspicious activities across the state to ensure potential threats are intercepted and neutralized.
“Amotekun is not just a watchful presence; we are a force for peace. We will continue to intensify our operations against terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry. Any attempt by these criminals to make Osun their base will be met with relentless opposition,” he added.
The statement follows increasing fears that fleeing bandits are seeking footholds in previously peaceful regions of the country. Residents of Osun have raised alarms about the potential for rising insecurity, a concern that Dr. Omoyele addressed with reassurances of unwavering vigilance and action by the Corps.
He further called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and movements within their communities. Community engagement, the Commander emphasized, is a critical component of the Corps’ strategy to ensure peace and safety across the state.
“We understand the concerns of our people, but let me make this crystal clear: the safety of every individual in Osun is non-negotiable,” he declared. “We will stop at nothing to ensure that bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists have no foothold in this state.”
In his statement, Dr. Omoyele reiterated the Corps’ mandate to deliver uncompromising security, ensuring that Osun State remains a model of peace and stability in the South West. By leveraging intelligence, deploying proactive strategies, and strengthening inter-agency collaborations, the Amotekun Corps is positioned to dismantle criminal networks seeking refuge within the state.
The declaration by the Commander has been met with optimism from some residents who see it as a bold step toward sustaining the tranquility Osun has long been known for. However, others have urged the Amotekun Corps to complement their words with actionable results, emphasizing the importance of transparency and community trust in security operations.
With the escalating concerns over bandit activities across the region, the coming weeks will test the resolve of the Amotekun Corps. Their commitment to flushing out criminal elements and safeguarding lives and properties will determine the extent to which public confidence is restored.
For now, Dr. Omoyele’s assurances provide a beacon of hope for the people of Osun, signaling that the Amotekun Corps is unwavering in its mission to protect the state and its residents.
