President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has outlined his administration’s vision for a prosperous and united nation in 2025. While Speaking on January 1, the President reflected on the challenges of 2024 while highlighting significant achievements and ambitious plans to improve the lives of Nigerians.
Tinubu acknowledged the economic hurdles faced by citizens, particularly the high cost of food and essential drugs. However, he noted progress in key areas, including a stronger Naira, rising foreign reserves, declining fuel prices, and record-breaking growth in the stock market.
“The economic outlook for 2025 is positive and encouraging,” he said, adding that foreign trade surpluses and increased investments demonstrate renewed confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
To address inflation and support underserved groups, Tinubu announced the creation of the National Credit Guarantee Company, set to launch in the second quarter of 2025.
This initiative will enhance access to credit for individuals and businesses, focusing on women, youth, and critical economic sectors. “This program will strengthen the financial system’s confidence, drive growth, and improve living standards,” he said.
The President also emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing inflation from 34.6% to 15%, pledging increased food production and local manufacturing of essential goods.
Tinubu stressed the importance of moral rectitude and national identity, unveiling plans to launch a National Values Charter in early 2025. The Charter, approved by the Federal Executive Council, will promote shared values, patriotism, and cooperation among citizens. A youth-focused national conference will further engage young Nigerians, empowering them as critical contributors to national development.
Commending state governments adopting innovations like compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles, Tinubu called for greater collaboration between federal, state, and local authorities. “Together, we can harness emerging opportunities in agriculture, energy, and tax reforms to propel our nation forward,” he said.
The President urged Nigerians to rise above political, ethnic, and religious divides, emphasizing unity as essential for achieving the nation’s aspirations. “We are on the path to building a great Nigeria that works for everyone,” he assured, urging all citizens to stay the course of nation-building.
He pinpoints a message of hope: “The New Year brings us closer to the Nigeria of our dreams. Together, with renewed hope and unwavering determination, we will achieve greatness.”
