Lagos State, Nigeria – In a remarkable display of appreciation for excellence and community service, friends and supporters of Lens Africa TV gathered at the Watercress Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos State, for the 2024 edition of the Lens Africa TV Annual Global Awards.
The event marked a significant milestone in recognizing individuals who have made profound contributions to society across various sectors, aptly themed “Celebrating People of Timber and Caliber.”
The event was graced by the esteemed grand patron of Lens Africa TV, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ile Ife, whom the attendees honored with heartfelt applause as he was ably represented. Key political figures, including His Excellency Mohammed Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State, joined a myriad of notable individuals and dignitaries at the ceremony, ensuring the occasion was as vibrant and significant as it was anticipated.
The awards ceremony, celebrated on included a diverse group of awardees, each chosen for their outstanding achievements and contributions. Honorees included Alhaja Bello Sarki, Special Adviser to the Governor of Kebbi State and Patron of Lens Africa TV; Chief Mrs. Anne Aderibigbe, Assistant Director of Electoral Operations; and Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajaji, among others.
In his eloquent welcome address, Oluwaremilekun Enitan Oyelowo, CEO of Lens Africa TV, expressed profound gratitude to the Ooni of Ile Ife and the event’s grand matron, Erelu Kuti IV of Lagos. He underscored the event’s purpose to unveil and celebrate the diverse beauty of Africa, highlighting the significant contributions made by the honorees toward societal advancement.
“The essence of this event is not just to celebrate our worthy awardees but to recognize the immense potential that lies within Africa and its people,” Oyelowo remarked. “We aim to spotlight those who tirelessly work to uplift their communities and inspire future generations.”
Among the distinguished recipients was Dr. Hon. Omoyele Isaac Adekunle, Osun Amotekun Corps Commander and Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Internal Security and Local Matters. He received the prestigious accolade of Public Safety Champion of the Year, a recognition of his relentless service to ensuring the safety and security of the Osun State populace.
Dr. Adekunle’s acceptance speech resonated deeply with those present, as he reflected on the challenges faced in public safety and the collaborative efforts required to ensure the well-being of citizens. “This award is a testament to our collective efforts in making Osun a safer place. It is not just my achievement; it is a recognition of the hard work and dedication of countless individuals who are committed to public safety and community service,” he asserted.
The awards ceremony was enriched with various cultural exhibitions and entertainment, emphasizing the event’s commitment to promoting African heritage. Attendees were treated to a screening of the “Jalumi” documentary, showcasing compelling narratives of cultural significance.
Ewi renditions, a live music band performance, and a captivating fashion show featuring traditional Ankara and Adire outfits highlighted the depth of Africa’s artistic expression.
In addition to the awards, the event also offered a platform for networking among influential figures across different sectors, fostering a spirit of collaboration for the betterment of the community. Among the attendees were prominent political figures, business leaders, and grassroots activists committed to uplifting their communities.
Among the special guests were Hon. Alh Kabiru Sani, an adviser to the Kebbi State Governor, and Hon. Abubakar Imam Besse, a member of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, among others. Their participation underscored the unity and shared purpose of those invested in the growth and development of their respective communities.
The event also recognized National heroes, such as Alhaji Munkaila, the Sarkin Yakin Zabarmawa of Lagos State, who exemplified dedication to public service and community leadership.
