7/7: LAGOS STATE POLICE COMMAND ASSURES MAXIMUM SECURITY AS CP JIMOH MEETS WITH ANTI-CULTISM SQUADS AND TACTICAL COMMANDERS
52 Cult Suspects Arrested in Preemptive Raids Across Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state, particularly ahead of July 7, infamously associated with cult-related violence and reprisal attacks.
In a decisive move, the Command today arrested fifty-two (52) suspected cultists during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts in the Mushin axis and other identified hotspots. The suspects were apprehended while allegedly planning violent attacks as part of the so-called “7/7 Cultism Day.” They are currently in custody and will be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the full mobilization of the Anti-Cultism Squads, Police Mobile Force (PMF), State Intelligence Bureau, and other tactical units to prevent, detect, and disrupt any plans by cult groups to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens. The Commissioner emphasized that the Command has deployed strategic preventive and deterrent measures to ensure peace and stability throughout Lagos.
In preparation for the day, CP Jimoh convened an emergency operational meeting on July 6, 2025, at the Command Headquarters with heads of Anti-Cultism and Tactical Units. He directed all operatives to remain on high alert and ensure no cult group is allowed to disturb the peace under any guise.
Warnings to Hoteliers, Parents, and Guardians
The Commissioner issued a stern warning to hoteliers, recreational facility operators, and other venue owners not to allow their premises to be used for cult gatherings or illegal activities. Anyone found complicit will face the full wrath of the law.
Parents and guardians are also advised to counsel their children and wards to avoid cultism, violence, and other criminal behavior. The Lagos State Police Command will not hesitate to apprehend and prosecute anyone involved in such unlawful acts.
